i used an auto clicker on the back button for the squire and this happened also since it was -34 i was not only able to get back but it restarted at -26 allowing me to reach up to the risen commander but it restarted at 0
Hmm, this is resolved if you run the downloadable version of the game (the controller will only function if the game is in focus), but it looks like that isn't working in the browser. I'll take a look.
As a workaround, if you're on Windows you can get the downloadable version.
Great game so far, critical yield could use some clarification though. Is it 2% bonus on a crit? (feels pointless to upgrade) Or 2% chance? (How much does it then actually yield)
Here's the description from the information page in game:
"When a critical yield triggers, the Farmhand gains double the XP and Gold they normally would get. This applies to ALL farm actions that are part of the click that crits."
The actual critical yield stat is the chance for it to happen!
I beat every achievement except for 5: the 100k clicks, and 4 of the 5 secrets, Im very confused on how to get the other ones except for the first. Is there any way to gain the knowledge for them?
Also I just wan't to say ive really enjoyed this game, its incredible and incredibly fun
small spoiler:
I have tried everything I can think of, for example: maxing the books, getting every upgrade. What I haven't done is maxing one of the things (so getting 75/75 of the points) but even that doesn't fully cover all the secrets, even for class exclusives (3/4).
So is there any way a small hint is possible for the secrets? I genuinely can't get any information from the title
(edit is because it still showed the small spoiler)
thats also how i did it If you don't trust the link the main method is: go to itch settings, on profile, scroll down and press "prefer markup where available" and press save, then your itch.io reply has an M with an arrow down on the top left, if thats true you now have html
And with that I beat the demo. That was cool, took me a few days. Was a bit disappointed to not get a cutscene or something when I finished the essence but it is a demo.
Thank you for making this, maybe I'll refind it when it's finished.
Thanks! Yes the demo ends kind of.. abruptly right now. With more content coming to the demo, I'll make sure I give it an obvious, definitive end once it is content complete.
Not sure how I did it, but the max hardiness/wisdom was 183 (I think Might, might be too) before I would cap the level (75/75) but that wasn't enough to get more stats points. Now with the "Buy all" I think all the bonus that you get at once bypass something that make me get more xp than would "fit" in the 75/75 and so granting more stats point.
Not sure if is something that worth looking into...but
Very well done! The one thing I would request is, once you get to a certain point in the Researcher class, waiting for the pages to be submitted becomes a real bottleneck. It'd be nice if you could instantly complete it if you have 200% of the pages you need, or be able to unlock a skill to complete more than one edition per rebirth.
I checked the Itch app and it lets you install both the browser version and the Windows download version. Do you have the Windows version installed? If not, try that and see if it works better. If you do, then I'm not sure as I tried it myself and it worked fine for me.
Great game, the only thing I can complain is that game feels too idle, at least for farming and fighting. I was just looking at screen, doing nothing but clicking skills every now and then. For farming, after you unlock autofarm there is nothing to do. And fighting is just totally idle from start. I think a good game should give you something to interact with, even if the game is idle or automated. I know this is not the most complicated game but even small things would help, like different crop seeds or fertilizer usage for farming, and a simple focus on attack/focus on defense choice for fighting. Of course these are just some ideas from top of my head but giving player always something to do even if a little, would be great!
You could say this is what are the skills for, but I felt like they were just, not that interesting. There wasnt a choice I can make, maybe use fighting skills to defeat harder opponents that I couldnt win defeat otherwise but this is most interesting/complicated thing you can do... The only other critcism I could give is, some shop items and skill fells too boring, simple. Just a little bit of stat boost. Some of them are pretty good tho. But I think it would be better if some shop items or skill did a little more active, or introduced a little, simple new mechanic. Thats all. Cheers <3
Thanks for the write up! I have a plan for the game feeling a bit too idle, stay tuned. :)
Other than that, I'll continue to iterate on skills, shop items, and perks to ensure they are interesting and feel meaningful. There's a few that feel a bit underwhelming at the moment.
I found a bug, I have an autoclicker that works 40 times per second (the design of this game means that this actually isn't too helpful overall) and when I use it on the arrows to select the enemy I want to fight in the squire mode, I can skip to enemies I haven't unlocked yet. This isn't really a big deal, as obviously I lack the strength to fight them, but I just thought I should try and make this known.
I deployed a small patch to prevent the "1 second AFK and get a day worth of XP and Gold" issue that has been happening for a few people in the browser. If you've had that issue before, please try it out and let me know if it's still happening!
It's possible that this patch may prevent browser AFK rewards from happening for those people who were having the issue. If that happens, try refreshing your browser and see if that helps.
there is a bug - when swicth from 1 page to a second and back i the same browers you will earn crazy exp and money- after i logging cant make bug happen again.
Yes I'm aware of this bug but haven't had any luck reproducing it yet.
If anyone can though, please let me know what OS/Browser you're running, what class you're playing, what point of the game you're in, anything like that will help me diagnose the issue. :) I'll keep investigating myself too.
I'm using Chrome and ran into the bug early in the game. It persisted through rebirths, so it was affecting all classes. Basically if I minimized the game for even a brief moment it would give offline progress when I reopened it. The offline progress was about 100,000 seconds worth. Might be the maximum amount if you have it capped at 1 day?
Love the game so much! One little thing I would like to see, is a bit of a hint system on the hidden achievements, Like I know they are hidden for a reason, but some of them would be nice to get a small (even inconsequential) hint on how to get them. So like Number go up, I get there is a number that has to go up. but is it like getting max of something? or just reaching a new number? For Oops! Wrong one, I would like just a small hint... is it like you hit the wrong ship in the world map? Or you attack the boss lady too many times? I liked the credits one and the yarr one, but the last three I just cannot fathom how to get and the names on them just don't give me much of a hint.
Hey thanks for the feedback! Glad you are enjoying HFI.
I've designed the secret achievements where the hope is that the community works together to figure them out, and then everyone benefits when a solution is found. All of the solutions exist in the HFI Discord server, under the #secrets channel (minus the one no one has figured out yet!).
However, I could see it being a bit frustrating if a particular secret hasn't been figured out for a long time. I plan to release hints myself over time as I wouldn't want to bar anyone from 100% achievement completion for long. (That would drive me nuts haha)
In case you don't use discord, here's a few particular hints for the ones you mentioned.
** Don't read past this point if you don't want hints!! **
Number Go Up -> There's a particular place in the Info section where you can click somewhere and see a number go up incrementally. I wonder what would happen if you clicked that button several times in a row.
Oops! Wrong One -> The nice thing about rebirthing is that you can do it any time.
You're Pretty Basic -> No one has gotten this one yet (AFAIK), so I'll add a hint for this one as well. This has to do with perks.
The lovely thing about the one that requires you to click a hundred thousand times? Autofarming counts. I got it on, like, my third or fourth prestige cycle.
after you get "burning the midnight oil rank 2" there is a bug where the skill pauses the cooldown countdown on 1, restarting the page makes the skill available again but the bug is still there
it doesnt stop forever, just the 15 seconds, i think the cooldown only decreases visually but it still waits 15s before the skill is available (it still is a bug, only you dont have to restart the game because of it)
What does the Squire's "Crit Resistance" stat do? It isn't covered in the Squire's information page. I've been guessing it lowers the chance that the enemy crits me? Or that it lowers their damage multiplier when they do crit me?
"+2% Crit Resistance" from "Scale Helm" shop item
"+5% Crit Resistance" from "Metal Buckler" shop item
"+5% Crit Resistance" from "Protect Your Vitals" perk
"+3% Crit Resistance" from "Deflect and Counter" perk
And same for the Poison Resistance stat. Does it lower the damage of poison, or lower the chance it sticks?
Yep, that's what Crit Resistance does - this even applies when the necrotic buff is on enemies, so you can dodge a crit even if a crit is supposed to be a 100% chance.
Poison Resistance lowers the damage of the poison damage over time effect. It starts at 50% of your maximum HP (100% for potent poison), and is lowered by the resist stat.
Just a commentary, but I find the process of getting permanent perks to be unsatisfying. Getting to them often requires me to completely tailor my perk selection towards them, grab several suboptimal perks, and then sit idle for a long time in order to earn the 5 or 10 points required to buy the perk. All the while I'm thinking "maybe I should use this point to buy <so-and-so perk>, that'll make things faster... Oh, but level requirements are always 2x the previous level, and this perk won't make things 2x faster, so it is actually slower to spend the point than it is to just be patient... Or maybe I should rebirth now for the extra multiplier and just start over..."
After I actually get the perk, I don't take time to appreciate it, and instead I want to immediately rebirth because now I start with essentially an extra +5 or +10 perk points for free, plus all of the points I don't have to spend on the useless perks, so I can now spend those all on perks that help me actually advance.
The design of the permanent perks is meant to be both a challenge to get enough points to earn them, but also that you would very likely rebirth right after to "get your points back" so they can be spent elsewhere.
So when you say you don't take time to appreciate it, it's not really intended to be used in the run that you earn it. Probably best to either do a push run or a permanent perk run, but not try to do both. So rebirth away and reap those benefits!
Not sure if it would have helped this confusion, but as a suggestion, maybe all of the "+gold per click" and "+xp per click" effects should have their wording be changed to be "per farm action"?
Suggestion: For a lot of shop items and perks, the effect is to increase some how much gold / research / exp / damage you do or get per second or click. But when I'm trying to pick between getting a perk that increases my exp per click by 2 or my exp per second by 2 or if I should save it to get something else, it is hard to evaluate those when my exp per second is already multiplied by my exp modifiers from might and hardiness.
It would be nice if there was somewhere that summarized what all of my base stats are without their multipliers.
i.e. My current exp-per-click before modifiers is 15. So an additional +2 exp per click isn't that big of a deal.
Suggestion 2: It would be nice to see how the various stats are contributing to any aggregate measurements.
i.e. I'm making 4m exp per second already with autofarming enabled, which is already taking click and per second rates into account... It would be nice if I could see a hypothetical tooltip that showed that was from a static 500k exp per second and 3.5m as 11 farm actions per click * 10 clicks per second * 0.6 (percentage of time spent working instead of sleeping) * 58 exp per farm action * might-based-multiplier
This makes sense too. The stats that are displayed right now are a bit basic (and are already fully multiplied together) - I'll look into displaying the base stat bonuses separately and adding more detail for some of the calculations, such as how much of a bonus Might is actually giving you, etc.
Just to add to this, I'll look into potentially enhancing the total XP and Gold earned per second stats by adding some kind of breakdown. (Maybe a tooltip)
I like the idea of knowing how much time you spend sleeping or something like that as well.
Typo: Researcher skill "Professional Development" says it increases your exp gain by 500%. But it actually only increases by 400%
(I currently get 84.28k per second, but with Professional Development toggled on, it becomes 421.41. That is 500% of the original, but that makes it an increase of 400%)
Please change Focus Mode in Godot to None for elements that shouldn't be interacted with. The white border on *everything *is driving me insane xD
Edit: Also, could details that don't change between rebirths stay visible in the Researcher lives? Things like the design and color of the books, the titles, etc.
Funny story about the Focus Mode lol - I originally had it all turned off cause I wasn't planning on supporting controllers. But I had to reenable all of it for controllers for work properly. Unfortunately I'll need it leave it on for this reason.
Yeah, I'll look into at least having the book color and title on the Publish tab persist if you're published the book before. I think once you're done it once the surprise is over haha.
k. So. Achievements are practically worthless. Farmer passive income is so weak it's pointless Soldier feels *too* idle in that you almost can't speed it up at all Soldier gold is far far too slow to gain Soldier is a complete gear check to begin with and is useless later (starts too important and ends not important enough) Researcher takes too long to get to (and should indicate where the missing upgrades are before you get there) Researcher has good meta progression.. but feels really bad to play itself Feel you're forced to afk at certain points in the game as there's no way to make timely progress Sleep is pretty pointless for the farmer and increasing capacity can sometimes even slow you down Oh and as a consequence of the soldier armour being useless the thorns perk becomes useless too (as well as the armour before that) The rare drops seem like they'd be the most interesting feature but they don't turn out that way, it just leads to afking, often far far longer than you'd want, and can't even do so offline Perma perks also seem a little too hard to get for the time being but I imagine more skills would naturally ease that over time (also the soldier permas need some clarification- was unsure if it would be possible to beat an enemy without skills after buying them, saw it was after getting them, but certainly put it off for a while because of that)
Finally, someone else said about gold/s on researcher for might - I'm hovering about 95 might now, it never said I got any bonus, it was always 0% boost I did see you said reworking balance was a priority but yeah it needs a lot of work. Didn't think i'd even play to researcher due to grievances but between some irritating offline farm and at least wanting to be clear when speaking against certain parts of the game (such as if the solution was just around the corner- which it wasn't), hobbled to mostly end of content
Heya, thanks for the write up. I'd like to comment on the general philosophy behind HFI just so things are clear in terms of the direction of the game.
HFI is an idle game, first and foremost. (It's even in the name! :D) The amount of usefulness of the AFK and offline rewards is directly connected to how often you play. If you min/max and play active all the time, then the AFK and offline rewards are likely not going to do much for you. Those systems are in place to ensure more casual players are always able to progress regardless of the amount of time they have to play. The feedback I have gotten from more casual players is that those systems are generally successful. (For late game Researcher, the page gain is kind of insane but that leads me to my next point)
HFI is also still in a demo state, so the content is still pretty limited. This means some of the evergreen systems like achievements may not feel like they are giving enough benefit as of yet. Researcher also only has about half the content of the other two classes currently. As the content increases, these supplementary systems will also grow and provide more and more benefit over time.
Balance/tuning needs another pass for sure, and I'm actively working on that in addition to new content and a perk rework.
For anyone looking for more detailed info on HFI and future updates, the discord server has all of that info! Appreciate the feedback, I'm checking and listening to all of it even if I don't comment on everything.
I'll say I've been critical of this game. However.. It has a *very* solid foundation. There are however glaring, huge issues that would stall your game hard if you were to open it to sale, likely annoying anyone who would purchase the game.
Saying its in a demo state is fine. But you have to realize this is player feedback ON the demo state of the game. If its not connecting with players now... It likely won't when you turn to sales.
Also saying its an idle game is just silly. As you stated, its in the name.. But 99% of the idle games out there atm (of which there are THOUSANDS) they have viable offline gains. Your game just doesn't. Saying your game is idle is fine, but saying you have offline earnings is almost dishonest. Yes you do have them. Are they even remotely valuable? No. Not even a tiny bit. You can be offline on the Warrior (semi early on even) and after a day you get 1-2 levels total. Mostly pointless and def not worth mentioning as a selling point.
Clarification is key for a budding game like this. 3rd class should have a tooltip saying it can be unlocked by X requirement and what it'll do for you overall. Cuz your average player will see the jump from gear requiring 50m to 900b. That being said... Thats just a bad, bad system. You could just have the 3rd class be "increases XP gain" and it'd be fine. *NEEDING* it and not knowing it even exists until you're like 20 hours in is just poor design.
Main issue though is balance. This is 99% of my frustration with this game (again, its quite fun). Having some stuff like Stagger chance requiring numerous levels to invest in.. No one is doing that, lol. Like at all. So that whole top left tree for the Warrior is entirely pointless. You can just remove the stagger mechanic entirely and it'd be fine. Or if you want to keep it in, you'd likely have to triple it in value for it to be considered. Again... Balance is the biggest issue.
Again, if you take anything away from my rant. Know this. The game is solid and has a lot of potential. But it has glaring balance and description issues. If you can deal with those 2 issues, your game has a big chance at success imo.
Thanks for the constructive criticism and honesty; I really do appreciate it.
HFI's next patch is going to include:
A class balance pass (including offline progression)
A perk overhaul (balance pass + changing how perks work a little; more on that in the future)
Further communication/clarification in-game to help steer the players in the right direction and explain game mechanics better
ALL of these plans are based on feedback from the community, which has been immensely helpful! I really appreciate everyone who has taken the time to comment on HFI to try to help make it better.
On the point of the Thorns perk becoming useless over time... As far as I can tell, the damage bonus from Might does not seem to affect the damage done by Thorns. Maybe it should?
Feel it would scale too well, if armour was keeping up with damage that should be enough Without knowing any future balancing plans, perhaps a late stage effect of might could be increasing the armour- which would in turn buff thorns - instead of the damage bonus applying
Perks, not skills Can't level up - i'm not sure if it only applies to that rebirth or if you can't have any progress on that book- I presume just that rebirth (So the first edition you finish that rebirth, if you haven't bought any perks with your level up points)
If you finish all books before understanding, it just gives it to you
Assuming you didn't spend any level up points at all, then possibly this means you have to start the book from scratch- like finishing an edition in the previous rebirth and then completing the whole entire thing, from the start, without using any level up points Either way, the achievements do so little and it gives you it once you finish them all regardless
I don't understand how the price of items can go from 90m to 990b in one jump.
That is a LUDICROUS jump. This seems to be the main con lately with a game like this. They make the entry level quite easy to attain, and once you get to a certain level now it becomes unstainable. This will likely include a p2w service at some point, I guarantee.
I don't get why people can't just make a somewhat logical game that is rewarding and enjoyable. People WILL buy that sort of game. People will not buy a game where 1 item jumps from 90m to 990b. That is pure stupidity.
Also regarding any game of similar fashion. It needs a solid off-line earning system. This game does *NOT* give that. Yes, you do get some bonus. But lets be honest, the game really requires you to actively play it for 100+ hours straight fully online the whole time.
Largely right, but you are given a (poorly signposted) solution to the cost jump halfway into the second soldier dungeon Offline could be better though
How are the save files encoded? I wanna cheat but none of my usual save editors work lol (base 64, whatever trimps does, and like 3 other random save editing websites)
Not sure how I found this game, but played 0.4.1 for a bit, and have some feedback for it. Not sure I enjoyed it, but will definitely take a look at it later.
---
1) First life as farmhand is super tedious to overcome. The lack of available sleep or food, waiting for sleep to refill, and being unable to acquire auto-farm, was really torturous. I nearly gave up on the game at this stage, as the grind is horrific... even with an auto-clicker program.
-> Maybe change it to level 5 as a maximum, to get the player's feet wet, rather than level 11. Without any wisdom stat it takes hours to reach it.
---
2) First life as squire is also pretty torturous to overcome. Even with a nearly maxxed out perk tree and many things available to purchase, some of the fights have too much health vs the amount of damage you deal and so the training area totally kicks your assets. Once you finally get out of the training area, you have accumulated enough might to return as a farmhand.
-> I think that to make it more fair, you should increase the fight timer to 60 seconds. As several fights I'd lose with less than 10% enemy health left.
-> Also when you lose, you get knocked back a stage in progress, which also sucks.
-> It might be nice, to leave an inheritance for your next character of the same type. So if you reach 100,000 gold, leave 25% of that for the next squire. So that they aren't starting out completely fresh next time around.
---
3) Second life as a farmhand I got to I think level 21 before I rebirthed as a squire.
-> XP and Gold requirements massively increase over time, which makes for progress a lot harder.
-> There isn't that many items to purchase either, so progress becomes farther and farther apart.
-> I do however like that different stats gained from rebirthing characters, has a different impact on each class.
---
4) Second life as a squire I got to goblin forest, killed a ton of goblins to unlock researcher.
-> We need some stat that controls rare drop chance for the squire. It took me a little over an hour to get the 25 pages needed to unlock the researcher, and this was with the squire one-shotting enemies that drop the pages.
-> I earned about 15 poison potions out of 100. This is going to take me a LONG time to complete.
-> Feel the perk trees are very limiting. At a certain point, you have all the golden perks and all the other perks. If only we could upgrade multiple ranks for perks, wherein you can only reach the next rank for a rebirth. So having 2 times played as squire, I could spend perks twice.
---
5) First life as a researcher, and not really understanding things.
-> Not much to purchase to improve my efficacy/efficiency.
-> I earn pages... lots of pages. Millions to billions of them.
-> I can publish books. Cool concept, where you can make upgrades for other characters on a character. Wish the farmhand had some way to do that for the squire and vice versa. Maybe that poison potion acts as a great fertilizer for the farmhand.
-> It takes so long to fill a book of chapters. I really think that if you have clearly more than enough pages to fill a book, it skips the animations of filling the chapters, and just gives you a book. And as many books require 25+ editions, this is a lot of downtime waiting for a book to get completed.
-> I see that you can only publish 1 edition per life. Going to have to rebirth a lot of times for researcher, and not sure I'm going to have the willpower to grind to do so.
-> Offline idling won't fill chapters you see, and I can't queue up books, so I have to sit at the computer to fill each book manually and its super tedious and exhausting and probably the ABSOLUTE WORST aspect of the game right now.
---
6) Back to squire. Completed goblin forest and onto tomb.
-> Necrotic essences are taking even longer to gain. It takes 100+ to reduce necrotic power attacks by 1. So most of the time you think the thing is bugged.
-> Really need some one-off consumables. A healing potion or a short term buff or something.
-> Stamina depletes too fast and game isn't good at deciding when to use it. Keeps wasting stamina on an attack that will one-shot a target without using the skill.
-> Defense seems to do practically nothing when enemies are hitting you for 10,000s of damage.
---
7) Back and forth between characters.
-> I have decently high stats, but can't get about level 45 for farmhand, 43 for squire, and something like 41 for researcher.
-> Gaining points for rebirthing is harder and harder now, to the point that I'm not earning anything each time for farmhand and squires.
-> I have enough perks by level 35 or so, so I complete the tree. Getting tedious to have to refill the tree each time I complete a rebirth.
-> Not earning any new story or I sequence broke something.
-> On 6th edition for researcher, and I think I've played enough researcher to know that I will smash my computer if I have to wait for another book to be completed.
-> Got to 155 necrotic essence before giving up on Squire. You don't earn rare drops when inactive and the drop chance is too low.
---
8) Misc.
-> I'm done playing 0.4.1
-> I found one secret achievement (Yarr), but couldn't figure out how to unlock the other two.
-> I fully achieved farmhand and researcher. The only two remaining for squire was poison potion (76/100) and necrotic essence (155/200).
-> Is this a Clicker has too high of requirements. And it doesn't even tell me how many clicks I've done.
-> Welcome to HFI doesn't count inactive time, only active time, so its going to take forever for me to reach even the first rank.
---
Lots of good things with it, like music for each character, different minigames, and easy to use interface.

i just lost all my progress
Same here
Hmm, nothing lately should have wiped save files, but just in case I'll reiterate how this could happen in a normal circumstance:
Hey thanks for the report - I'll look into a way to prevent this behavior.
Are there plans to have import/export function? I'm currently playing it on itch, but plan to play the steam version later on.
If you use the Backup function, you can save your save file locally. This save file is compatible with the Steam version!
Ah I see, the backup button does an export.
Any way to disable controller support for the game?
Enjoying it a lot but when I'm letting it run in the background while I play other games my controller is still affecting it
Hmm, this is resolved if you run the downloadable version of the game (the controller will only function if the game is in focus), but it looks like that isn't working in the browser. I'll take a look.
As a workaround, if you're on Windows you can get the downloadable version.
Understood, thanks for the help
No problem. This is now fixed for the browser in my local build. Next patch rollout will resolve this issue - thanks for letting me know!
I have every achievement except 100k clicks and Takes A Village To Make, could I get a hint
The hint for Takes A Village To Make is in the game's description on this very itch page. :)
Thank you for the kind words! I'm assuming you're missing the secret achievement called "You're Pretty Basic"
Hint below (Don't look if you don't want to be spoiled!!! - I really wish itch had spoiler tags)
Thank you for answering, I am really enjoying this game, its lovely
I think I understand what your hint is implying, and this is one of the achievements I’m missing.
spoiler:
But I’m also missing numbers go up (probably the one with the level 75), yarr! (no clue) and oops wrong one (also no clue)
alr got oops wrong one as well, so now just yarr! and numbers go up
All of the secret answers are in the HFI discord too - but for yarr I'd take a look at the world map, and for number go up I'd check the info screen.
those are some very good hints, I got both of them now, so just spam clicking left
How do I get the "oops wrong one" thing?
Heres a hint for Yarr, take a look at the map. What does Yarr remind you of?
thank you for this hint, it also helped with the achievement, (also a good hint for in game ngl)
as for your problem with spoiler (I got annoyed so searched for it) this is the solution:
https://itch.io/t/2151831/adding-spoiler-text-to-your-game-description
thats also how i did it
If you don't trust the link the main method is:
go to itch settings, on profile, scroll down and press "prefer markup where available" and press save, then your itch.io reply has an M with an arrow down on the top left, if thats true you now have html
with that you can use
<details>
<summary>
put your main title here (like spoiler)
</summary>
put the thing you want to hide
</details>
Hey that's helpful! I'll keep that in mind thanks.
Rock solid game. Can't wait for a full release. Got 100-ish %. I needed much less than 100,000 clicks =)
Thank you! Steam page is coming quite soon!
That's all that can be expected of you.

Not sure if is something that worth looking into...but
Pretty cool game.
Congrats!
Thanks for the feedback, yes it does get a bit slow to wait for the chapter completions haha. I'll look into it.
This is improved in the latest patch by the way. :D
Especially the 50 editions of the first two books. I gave up around 30. It's just too tedious and time consuming for too little reward.
Yeah it's tedious right now due to the lack of content for researcher, but once the content is buffed up the 50 editions will make more sense. :)
hey i looked at some of the photos but for whatever reason i cant see a class image and cant get perks
I've seen this error only one other time - can you provide some info?
i downloaded on the itch app
my os is windows
im running on a laptop so unlikely
i dont know the resolution
That helps! Thanks.
Thank you so much man! Keep up the great work!! <3
Thanks for the report - I'll look into this one. :)
great idle game. its take me only 31 hr to full complete all classes and all achievements :D
<3 Well done!
The best idle rpg game ever. I'll wait for the full release.
Thank you! Really appreciate it.
It only stopped when I refreshed the page.
Thanks, that is a lot of helpful info. I'll keep investigating!
I think I've gotten all the secret achievements? Unless there's super secret ones that don't show up unless you do what's required for them.
I got all-but-one of the achievements! (I haven't clicked 100,000 times, and I'm not super interested in trying for it):
I got everything else, though!
For the "You're Pretty Basic" achievement: let me know if you'd like a different hint. The requirements for it are a little unusual.
The lovely thing about the one that requires you to click a hundred thousand times? Autofarming counts. I got it on, like, my third or fourth prestige cycle.
Thanks, that's good to know.
Is the necromancer the librarian?
after you get "burning the midnight oil rank 2" there is a bug where the skill pauses the cooldown countdown on 1, restarting the page makes the skill available again but the bug is still there
it doesnt stop forever, just the 15 seconds, i think the cooldown only decreases visually but it still waits 15s before the skill is available (it still is a bug, only you dont have to restart the game because of it)
Yes this is a bug - I've added it to Known Issues!
What does the Squire's "Crit Resistance" stat do? It isn't covered in the Squire's information page. I've been guessing it lowers the chance that the enemy crits me? Or that it lowers their damage multiplier when they do crit me?
And same for the Poison Resistance stat. Does it lower the damage of poison, or lower the chance it sticks?
Yep, that's what Crit Resistance does - this even applies when the necrotic buff is on enemies, so you can dodge a crit even if a crit is supposed to be a 100% chance.
Poison Resistance lowers the damage of the poison damage over time effect. It starts at 50% of your maximum HP (100% for potent poison), and is lowered by the resist stat.
I'll clarify both of these in the info section.
So rebirth away and reap those benefits!
feel silly for asking but do the upgrades related to clicking still apply if i have the auto farm enabled?
Yes!
Thanks for the suggestion!
That is 500% of the original, but that makes it an increase of 400%)
Yup this makes sense - I'll add it to Known Issues. Thanks!
Fun game but i cannot for the life of me figure out how to get researcher
advance enough in Fighter dungeon
Another funny balance thing - by the time I can buy "Quality Quill" I already do not need it, it's useful at best only for the first run as Researcher
k. So.
Achievements are practically worthless.
Farmer passive income is so weak it's pointless
Soldier feels *too* idle in that you almost can't speed it up at all
Soldier gold is far far too slow to gain
Soldier is a complete gear check to begin with and is useless later (starts too important and ends not important enough)
Researcher takes too long to get to (and should indicate where the missing upgrades are before you get there)
Researcher has good meta progression.. but feels really bad to play itself
Feel you're forced to afk at certain points in the game as there's no way to make timely progress
Sleep is pretty pointless for the farmer and increasing capacity can sometimes even slow you down
Oh and as a consequence of the soldier armour being useless the thorns perk becomes useless too (as well as the armour before that)
The rare drops seem like they'd be the most interesting feature but they don't turn out that way, it just leads to afking, often far far longer than you'd want, and can't even do so offline
Perma perks also seem a little too hard to get for the time being but I imagine more skills would naturally ease that over time (also the soldier permas need some clarification- was unsure if it would be possible to beat an enemy without skills after buying them, saw it was after getting them, but certainly put it off for a while because of that)
Finally, someone else said about gold/s on researcher for might - I'm hovering about 95 might now, it never said I got any bonus, it was always 0% boost
I did see you said reworking balance was a priority but yeah it needs a lot of work.
ALL of these plans are based on feedback from the community, which has been immensely helpful! I really appreciate everyone who has taken the time to comment on HFI to try to help make it better.
On the point of the Thorns perk becoming useless over time... As far as I can tell, the damage bonus from Might does not seem to affect the damage done by Thorns. Maybe it should?
Feel it would scale too well, if armour was keeping up with damage that should be enough
Without knowing any future balancing plans, perhaps a late stage effect of might could be increasing the armour- which would in turn buff thorns - instead of the damage bonus applying
Honestly pretty weird that only Researcher has a missable challenge (or i don't understand which book is 'the first' one)
Perks, not skills
Can't level up - i'm not sure if it only applies to that rebirth or if you can't have any progress on that book- I presume just that rebirth (So the first edition you finish that rebirth, if you haven't bought any perks with your level up points)
If you finish all books before understanding, it just gives it to you
That's the thing, i did try to leave a handful of pages and finish a book on new rebirth and didn't get it
Assuming you didn't spend any level up points at all, then possibly this means you have to start the book from scratch- like finishing an edition in the previous rebirth and then completing the whole entire thing, from the start, without using any level up points
Either way, the achievements do so little and it gives you it once you finish them all regardless
I did precisely this and did get the achievement.
When you unlock researcher, it fills the gap with new upgrades.
Largely right, but you are given a (poorly signposted) solution to the cost jump halfway into the second soldier dungeon
Offline could be better though
Looks like the Researcher's Epiphany might not work properly when something's being Published?
Yes there is an issue with this - added to Known Issues!
How are the save files encoded? I wanna cheat but none of my usual save editors work lol (base 64, whatever trimps does, and like 3 other random save editing websites)
does the demo end at the 6th wave of the third dungeon?
Yes that is currently the final enemy - however more content will be coming to the demo in the future!
Quality Ink says it reduces research speed by 50%. It should say that it reduces research time by 50%
Good catch, I'll fix the wording. :)
Should might 50 really give +0 gold/s to scribe?
Some benefits from Rebirth Stats don't kick in until higher numbers - I'll see if I can clarify this a bit better in the info section.
I'm at might 66 and it's still at 0, when does it kick in?
EDIT: As it turns out, 70
Not sure how I found this game, but played 0.4.1 for a bit, and have some feedback for it.
---
8) Misc.
-> I'm done playing 0.4.1
Hope some of this helps.
Appreciate the large write up! I'll take your thoughts into consideration as I continue to work on the game. Smoothing progression is a priority.
Brain Damage but in a good way.
Upgrade are very linear. I think ok I just buy the next cheapest one.
Sleeping feels weird. I guess its sort of afk?
Cool game better skill tree than poe2
