That's every achievement done! Now to wait for the next release...

(+1)

Congrats!

Quick question/suggestion: I think that maybe the squire class is disproportionately slow to progress compared to the other classes?

Yeah it depends on where you are in the game; it'll speed up nearer the endgame with Researcher slowing down a bit. If you want to give me an idea of where you're at though that will help. :)

Hardiness188
Might 160
Wisdom 165
(+2)

I'll try to give some blind tips here that might help :) (I think that stage of the game is balanced okay)

  • Dungeon 4 enemies skyrocket in XP gain, so getting further in is really beneficial for Squire. Might will eventually overtake Wisdom in how quickly you gain it.
  • If you're missing anything that will power up XP gain for the Researcher itself, I would focus on that if Squire doesn't seem to be leveling up fast enough. Faster XP on Researcher means faster Wisdom gains which means faster XP for everyone :D
  • If you're missing any achievements, those can provide some nice passive bonuses too. If you're missing secret achievements especially, check the discord as all the answers are there.

I'm on 575 hours right now. This is one the best idle game I ever played. It kinda took me back to years where I spent weeks on tap titans- wait, no.... This game might have reached even higher grounds.

I am honored by this comment thank you!

(+1)

it took me 1319 hours (not all active)to 100% the demo on itch, Very great game I enjoyed every moment keep updating maybe update the game on itch to?

Congrats and thank you!

Right now my priority is on the Steam beta, but I will consider a release on Itch in the future too! If I do release on Itch though, it will likely be a download only.

I have no intention of ever taking the demo down though (and I will keep it browser playable too). The save file from the demo can be backed up and transferred to any future versions of the game as well.

How do you unlock Lore research?

You need to buy a certain shop item on the Farmhand. Let me know if you want more of a hint. :)

I see, thanks. Another question: Is turning on night mode for researcher supposed to be hard to find?

No, although Night Mode is unlocked with Lore research so that needs to happen first.

I see 😭. I guess I'll just keep grinding till I get enough money for a wheelbarrow?

Thanks BTW, Love the game 10/10

Haha that's right! It takes some effort.

Thanks so much, I'm so glad you're enjoying it!

Nearing the end of all the achievements, do the researches all give the same xp per tick?

(+2)

That is correct, so research subject speed is key in terms of gaining XP quickly. Sounds like you are close to your 100% completion gold star!

Just gotta get Squire and Researcher up to 80 (three ish levels to go) and get the alst 10 rebirth stats.

Very close!

How do you get the hulking monstrosity achievement after you have all the corruption drops? I just happened to get them all before being able to take it down.

Turn off autoblock and you can still get corruption stacks. :)

Awesome, thanks

After 646 hours on this I just got mastery perks what do they do

Max out your perk tree for a particular class and it will appear. :)

thanks :)

Can you crit on a spin slash?

You can!

Empowered hunger was confusing to me as I thought that having 0% hunger was optimal. I think something like "filling your hunger bar empowers your XP and Gold gains" might be clearer.

Yes I think this could be reworded to be clearer, thanks for the feedback. :)

(+4)

Hey everyone, just letting you all know that there's a lot of scam accounts posting fake "game is updated" posts in the comments of itch games. Please don't click those links!

I for one will not post about updates in the comments section. There will always be a supported devlog/patch notes post that is separate.

Stay safe and keep gaming!

(+1)

The skill trees are a bit unclear regarding which direction a prerequisite is. A little arrow pointing from the requirement would help.

I've got this in my notes - thanks!

(+1)

Just updating to say that the perk UI has arrows now! Thanks for the suggestion.

(+5)

Actually made an account just to tell you that you are doing amazing with this game, and to keep it up!! Absolutely loving this!

(+1)

Wow thank you! I'm honored :)

(+6)

A very fun game. The developer tries to fix bugs quickly and does his best to incorporate suggestions from the community into the game.

(+1)

Is there a wiki for this? Cause I feel like I've hit a wall with the book that I have to dig out by farming.

It's been a nice pastime, I'll keep trying stuff, I just want to know I should just give it time in the farmer job or if I should focus on something else, cause after the 100... Um, skill points? On each is getting harder keep increasing it

Thank you in advance

(+1)

The HFI discord is basically the wiki! We have channels for each class, pinned comments for secrets, and people are talking strategy all the time and help others with how to move forward.

That being said a wiki isn't a terrible idea...

xD thank you I did just that and (go to the discord) and quenched my curiosity

I have a question, for the 1 trillion farmer challenge, does auto farm count as a perk against the skill?

Permanent perks (like autofarm) do not count for these kind of achievements. :)

Noticed a small bug. If you're in a seperate menu when a dialogue box opens it soft locks the game.

Thanks I'll take a look!

(+1)

I saw a little bit of feedback that some people may miss the UI scaling bigger - if you are one of those people please let me know - it's something I could reintroduce. I'm always open to constructive feedback - thanks!

I will be implementing a UI zoom option for people will high res monitors, just so everyone knows!

Yes, it's very difficult to read most things right now...

make sure you back up save because i lost all my progress

its because google chrome wanted to update

(+1)

I love finding gems like this on Itch.

<3

(+1)

Great game, had lots of fun playing it, just what I was looking for. 😁

Awesome! Glad you had fun.

(+2)

Really nice game! Completed all the achievement beside one secret and the absurd number of clicks

(1 edit) (+1)

Glad you enjoyed it! Yes I will bring that criteria for that achievement down in the next update.

(+2)

This was a really enjoyable incremental game! I got all the achievements except for click 100,000 times and 2 of the secret ones. I'm definitely not going to click 100k times, the automatic stuff unlocks early in the game and clicking my mouse that many times manually is a little beyond what I want to do.

I'll definitely keep an eye out for future updates

(+2)

I mighttttt nerf that achievement. 100k might be a little extreme considering how much things automate over time. I'm glad you enjoyed the demo! Version 2 is coming soooooon.

If it helps determine a more appropriate level - I completed everything (without being the most efficient) and still had under 25k clicks

When do you unlock the researcher i have played for 4 days and i still dont have it

(+1)

You need item drops from the Goblin Scavenger (playing as Squire).

(+5)

this is better progress knight

(+2)

Thank you that's a huge compliment.

(+1)

I am almost done the entire game, I NEEEEED more lol.
Just want to say a big thank you for the game I am enjoying it immensely and I am looking forward to what comes next. Just gotta kill the BBEG now.

Thank you! I really appreciate it. I am working hard on new content!

(+4)

hours in, this game has major possibilities. very well done game-play loop for a demo making me want to keep playing even though i normally dislike putting so much time in just demos. as a dev myself, i am curios of what game engine is used if any, what coding language its codded in, and wether or not a linux version is planned. although some game engines allow for you to easily export a project into mac windows and linux versions, some don't do it as well as others. i am already ready to drop 10-20 bucks on this, good work. i would cretiqe this, but it is only an itch demo so its hard to tell what is planned. one thing i can cretiqe rn is automation. the option to auto use attacks in the "fighting part" doesn't save weither or not you previosly had it selected. also i have hope that there will be a way to import demo saves to the full game. one final cretiqe is currently it is hard to tell where the game "ends". weither this is just cause of it being a demo or cause there isnt enough "push" to get you to keep going i am unshure, but for the full game i recomend teaching at the start that it may seem like the game is over but there is "hidden" things you can unlock by continuing, while keeping the stuff still "hidden" like how the unlocking researching felt, because that rewards players for being curios and also makes people more hooked on "finding out what comes next".

(+2)

I'll try to answer each point you raised:

Thanks so much for the kind words, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. The save data WILL carry over to the Steam release by the way (wishlisting is available!), so make sure you do a backup! :)

HFI is made in Godot using GDScript - so there is a possibility for the game to be exported to more platforms. Right now though, my time is limited so I can't really afford to spend that extra time debugging more platforms. It does run great on the Steam Deck though via Proton. (Steam Deck is officially supported by the way) Never say never though!

I'm assuming you're referring to the Auto checkboxes on the Squire for skills - it would be helpful to save if they are checked or unchecked, thanks.

Regarding it being hard to tell when the demo is over, totally agree. This is a symptom of the demo not being fully complete. When Demo V2 comes out I'll make sure to make it very clear when you have cleared all the content.

Thanks again!

(+1)

hey i am wondering if you can make it downloadable for macos and i want to ask if you plan to add more content?

(-1)

Hello! I'm not currently planning to support MacOS, as I don't have the capability or time to test for it at this time.

I am planning to add more content to the demo! There will be a significant content update to the demo before it is considered complete - then I will be moving into content for the beta on Steam.

(1 edit)

ok thanks for letting me know

Seems to work fine under wine on ubuntu

i just lost all my progress

Same here

Hmm, nothing lately should have wiped save files, but just in case I'll reiterate how this could happen in a normal circumstance:

  • Clearing your browser cache will wipe your save file, as that is where the save file is stored. Make sure to backup your save!
  • While loading a save file is not available in the browser version, it is available both in the Windows downloadable version and the Steam version.

i used an auto clicker on the back button for the squire and this happened also since it was -34 i was not only able to get back but it restarted at -26 allowing me to reach up to the risen commander but it restarted at 0

Hey thanks for the report - I'll look into a way to prevent this behavior.

Are there plans to have import/export function? I'm currently playing it on itch, but plan to play the steam version later on.

If you use the Backup function, you can save your save file locally. This save file is compatible with the Steam version!

Ah I see, the backup button does an export.

Any way to disable controller support for the game?

Enjoying it a lot but when I'm letting it run in the background while I play other games my controller is still affecting it

(+1)

Hmm, this is resolved if you run the downloadable version of the game (the controller will only function if the game is in focus), but it looks like that isn't working in the browser. I'll take a look.

As a workaround, if you're on Windows you can get the downloadable version.

Understood, thanks for the help

(+1)

No problem. This is now fixed for the browser in my local build. Next patch rollout will resolve this issue - thanks for letting me know!

Great game so far, critical yield could use some clarification though. Is it 2% bonus on a crit? (feels pointless to upgrade) Or 2% chance? (How much does it then actually yield)

Here's the description from the information page in game:

"When a critical yield triggers, the Farmhand gains double the XP and Gold they normally would get. This applies to ALL farm actions that are part of the click that crits."

The actual critical yield stat is the chance for it to happen!

(1 edit)

I have every achievement except 100k clicks and Takes A Village To Make, could I get a hint

The hint for Takes A Village To Make is in the game's description on this very itch page. :)

(1 edit)

I beat every achievement except for 5: the 100k clicks, and 4 of the 5 secrets, Im very confused on how to get the other ones except for the first. Is there any way to gain the knowledge for them?

Also I just wan't to say ive really enjoyed this game, its incredible and incredibly fun

small spoiler:

I have tried everything I can think of, for example: maxing the books, getting every upgrade. What I haven't done is maxing one of the things (so getting 75/75 of the points) but even that doesn't fully cover all the secrets, even for class exclusives (3/4).

So is there any way a small hint is possible for the secrets? I genuinely can't get any information from the title

(edit is because it still showed the small spoiler)

(1 edit)

Thank you for the kind words! I'm assuming you're missing the secret achievement called "You're Pretty Basic"

Hint below (Don't look if you don't want to be spoiled!!! - I really wish itch had spoiler tags)

  • This achievement has to do with perks. Each class has a perk with the word basic in it. Hopefully that is enough of a hint. :)

Thank you for answering, I am really enjoying this game, its lovely

I think I understand what your hint is implying, and this is one of the achievements I’m missing.

spoiler:

But I’m also missing numbers go up (probably the one with the level 75), yarr! (no clue) and oops wrong one (also no clue)

alr got oops wrong one as well, so now just yarr! and numbers go up

(+1)

All of the secret answers are in the HFI discord too - but for yarr I'd take a look at the world map, and for number go up I'd check the info screen.

those are some very good hints, I got both of them now, so just spam clicking left

How do I get the "oops wrong one" thing?

Heres a hint for Yarr, take a look at the map. What does Yarr remind you of?

thank you for this hint, it also helped with the achievement, (also a good hint for in game ngl)

as for your problem with spoiler (I got annoyed so searched for it) this is the solution:
https://itch.io/t/2151831/adding-spoiler-text-to-your-game-description

thats also how i did it
If you don't trust the link the main method is:
go to itch settings, on profile, scroll down and press "prefer markup where available" and press save, then your itch.io reply has an M with an arrow down on the top left, if thats true you now have html

with that you can use

<details>

<summary>

put your main title here (like spoiler)

</summary>

put the thing you want to hide

</details>

Hey that's helpful! I'll keep that in mind thanks.

Rock solid game. Can't wait for a full release. Got 100-ish %. I needed much less than 100,000 clicks =)

Thank you! Steam page is coming quite soon!

And with that I beat the demo.
That was cool, took me a few days. Was a bit disappointed to not get a cutscene or something when I finished the essence but it is a demo.

Thank you for making this, maybe I'll refind it when it's finished.

Thanks! Yes the demo ends kind of.. abruptly right now. With more content coming to the demo, I'll make sure I give it an obvious, definitive end once it is content complete.

That's all that can be expected of you.

Not sure how I did it, but the max hardiness/wisdom was 183 (I think Might, might be too) before I would cap the level (75/75) but that wasn't enough to get more stats points. Now with the "Buy all" I think all the bonus that you get at once bypass something that make me get more xp than would "fit" in the 75/75 and so granting more stats point.

Not sure if is something that worth looking into...but

Pretty cool game.

(+1)

Congrats!

(+1)

Very well done! The one thing I would request is, once you get to a certain point in the Researcher class, waiting for the pages to be submitted becomes a real bottleneck. It'd be nice if you could instantly complete it if you have 200% of the pages you need, or be able to unlock a skill to complete more than one edition per rebirth.

Thanks for the feedback, yes it does get a bit slow to wait for the chapter completions haha. I'll look into it.

This is improved in the latest patch by the way. :D

Especially the 50 editions of the first two books. I gave up around 30. It's just too tedious and time consuming for too little reward.

Yeah it's tedious right now due to the lack of content for researcher, but once the content is buffed up the 50 editions will make more sense. :)
